Impacts from climate change continuously affect our daily lives. This year we experienced the hottest summer on record, with widespread fires endangering lives and harming health. Business assets and bottom lines are also at risk, with operational disruptions due to extreme weather events and decreased productivity due to health concerns.

Southeast Asia is one of the most at-risk regions in the world when it comes to climate change impacts, with densely populated coastlines and heavy reliance on agriculture for livelihoods. To mitigate these impacts, the Singapore government is calling on the business sector to take a lead, increasing the country’s net zero and carbon market ambitions.

However, despite considerable progress, the world is not on track to reach the aspirations of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, exacerbating risks to the region. For investors across sectors, this brings new risks, from stranded assets to insurance challenges.
