Impacts from climate change continuously affect our daily lives. This year we experienced the hottest summer on record, with widespread fires endangering lives and harming health. Business assets and bottom lines are also at risk, with operational disruptions due to extreme weather events and decreased productivity due to health concerns.
Southeast Asia is one of the most at-risk regions in the world when it comes to climate change impacts, with densely populated coastlines and heavy reliance on agriculture for livelihoods. To mitigate these impacts, the Singapore government is calling on the business sector to take a lead, increasing the country’s net zero and carbon market ambitions.
However, despite considerable progress, the world is not on track to reach the aspirations of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, exacerbating risks to the region. For investors across sectors, this brings new risks, from stranded assets to insurance challenges.
Following the outcomes of COP28 in Dubai, we invite business leaders in Singapore to ask how business can lead towards a safe and just world. How can businesses address climate change and mitigate related risks for a thriving future? We invite you to join us for a panel discussion and workshop designed to challenge and inspire you as we explore what it means for businesses to innovate for a just and sustainable world.
Please come to this event to:
- Discuss with peers what it means to transform specific industries for a safe and just world
- Develop shared industry-specific visions and identify existing opportunities to accelerate change
- Hear from influential speakers on business transformation for sustainability, Weixiang Wang, Catherine Loke, and Rosa Kusbiantoro
